Breast Cancer - Prevention And Cure

Breast Cancer - Prevention And Cure

Breast cancer, the growth of malignant cells in the breast, is the most common cancer among women. It is rare but does occur in men breast cancer usually originates in the milk carrying ducts, although it may arise in the milk producing lobules or, more rarely, in the dense connective tissue of the breast. A breast tumor is not in itself life threatening, but there is a high risk that the cancer will spread to other organs via the lymph nodes or the bloodstream, so early detection is imperative. In 90 percent of cases, only one breast is affected, although those who have had cancer in one breast are at increased risk of eventually developing it in the other. In all cases, early detection treatment and cure improve the outlook significantly.

Prevention and cure varies also depending on the choice of the patient whether conventional or alternative cure.

To be more balance we have to view first the conventional prevention:

  • Mammograms can detect tumors too small to feel. Women over 50 should have annual mammograms, and those between ages 40 and 50 should discuss their individual risk factors with their doctors to determine when to begin mammography. The exam should be performed by a radiologist specializing in mammography or by a mammography center accredited by the American college of radiology. A list of accredited centers is available from the National cancer institute at 1-800-4 cancer.
  • Women should perform monthly breast exams the best time is two or three days after menstruation ends). Breast tissue is normally somewhat lumpy and uneven, so it is important to become familiar with the normal contour and texture of the breasts. Changes in texture and appearance will then become more easily detectable.
  • Regular exercise and maintaining weight can decrease risk of postmenopausal breast cancer.
  • Women who are at increased risk of breast cancer may benefit from chemoprevention, which involves tamoxifen therapy for 5years. The decision to undergo chemo prevention, should be made after discussing individual risks and benefits with a physician.
  • Women with a strong family history of breast cancer may consider undergoing genetic testing for one of the breast cancer genes, women who test positive may undergo increased surveillance for both breast and ovarian cancer or consider preventative removal of their breast or ovaries.

Now the cure and treatment:

  • Surgery is necessary to remove the tumor. The patient will be given the choice of having any necessary surgery performed at the time of the biopsy or in a subsequent operation. Depending upon how far the cancer has spread, surgery may involve removing only the mass or lump or the entire breast, either of which may include removal of the neighboring lymph nodes. If a tumor has invaded the muscle tissue under the breast, the removal of the breast and the underlying muscle tissue may be advised.
  • Radiation therapy may be required after surgery to prevent further spread of the cancer, especially if the lymph nodes were affected.
  • Chemotherapy may be required before and after surgery to prevent further spread of the cancer. Such treatment generally lasts from six months to a year.
  • Hormone therapy may be prescribed after surgery for estrogen receptor positive tumors
  • Reconstructive plastic surgery is available for women who have had part or all of the breast removed. Women may have reconstructive surgery at the same time as surgery to remove the tumor or at a later date.
  • And the last but not the least the best alternative breast cancer – prevention and cure as provided by the “one minute cure for all diseases” we all know that this prevention and cure has gain prominence to a lot of people. The claim is so simple; research revealed that if you deprive a cell 35% of its required levels of oxygen for 48 hours, the cell will become cancerous. Most people don't know is that lack of oxygen is not only the underlying cause of cancer but is also the cause of most diseases. When the body is supplied with abundant amounts of oxygen, no cancer cells, viruses, harmful bacteria, toxins, pathogens and disease microorganisms can survive because they cannot survive in a highly oxygenated environment.

The Oncologist Job consists of more than just treating cancer, it includes caring!

The oncologist job demands conventional instruction and qualifiying course work to practice oncology in a medical office or hospital setting. The oncologist job involves concentrated medical specialty classes that principally address benign and malignant tumors and acquiring experience in identifying their emergence, remedy, and deterrence.

Progressive malignancy treatment encompass obtainable state-of-the-art facilities and skillful physicians to satisfy the needful oncologist job market. Oncologist job services include restorative procedures, as well as those that stimulate the immune system. Physicians who have oncologist jobs examine the indicators of tumors and monitor the actions that imminently propose sickness in response to curative measures. This information can be instrumental in the research and development of more aggressive cancer therapy.

The function of the oncologist job will be to devise calculated treatments that methodically counter the symptomatology of patients who may be diagnosed with cancer. Hard-hitting modes of treatment include radiation, chemical, and surgical established techniques besides alternative remedies, such as homeopathy or naturopathy. Alternative medicine may not be consistent with mainstream protocol but contains remedial properties known to be effectual.

The oncologist job has comprehensive familiarity of the assorted treatments acquirable and their contraindications and outcomes, irrespective whether they may be negative or positive, and to what extreme. Every patient reacts differently to the variable programs of therapeutic medicine. Alas, individualized cancer discussions comprise of trial and error often. The oncologist job monitors their patients meticulously to ensure that the chosen plan of care will have the best outcomes for the patient.

Sometimes, cancer spreads throughout the body from the site it started from by microscopic cells transported by the blood or lymph. Unfortunately the only recourse would be making the patient as comfortable as humanly possible. An oncologist job most often without the therapeutic potential to cure the disease can leastwise alleviate discomfort.

An oncologist job compels practioners to learn good communication skills and receptivity towards patients and their families providing solace, which delivers emotional and spiritual support. No one wants to receive news about discovering of a tumor especially a malignant kind. A healthful philosophy of the oncologist job embodies the profound appreciation for a patient's moral and appropriate right to be informed about their course of cancer treatment.

The oncologist job handles continuous problematic situations whereas patients presentation into medical assessments, secession of vigorous care management, and findings that cause distress. About Oncologist Jobs

An oncologist may be a cancer researcher or someone who helps in the treatments of cancer. An oncologist may also be a doctor that explains to patients and families what cancer is and how best to treat it. An oncologist must understand that their education is constantly changing as new techniques and treatments are discovered.

Because of the nature of cancer, this one choosing this career should understand the necessity of constantly being aware of discoveries in your field. Stay on top of recent research trends and be willing to attend educational seminars from time to time. Another thing important in the life of an oncologist is following up with patients to determine what treatments are working and their success rates.

In addition to medical training it is recommended that oncologists also have some psychological training. They will have to deal with sensitive topics and issues with families on a very personal level. They must be able to demonstrate compassion and sensitivity when dealing with others. Communicating orally is very important to someone considering an oncology profession.

Oncology has four different specializations that the prospective candidate can choose to become part of. The first is medical oncology which handles treating cancer with medicine and sometimes chemotherapy. The second is surgical oncology. Surgical oncology handles the surgical procedures related to cancer diagnoses, such as biopsies and removing the cancerous tumors. The third specialization is radiation, which deals with the radiation therapy and treatment of cancer. The last segment is pediatric oncology. This would be a difficult area but can also be very rewarding. This area of oncology diagnoses, treats, and follows up with children who may have cancer.

In addition to the four main branches of oncology, there are several smaller specializations. You may want to choose to study breast, throat, or stomach cancer. There are many types of cancers and you can individualize and specialize in just one area or diversify and treat a variety of cancers. There is also an area known as secondary cancers, cancers that have been caused or spread while cancer in one area was being treated.
There are many different options available in oncology for a workplace. What each individual chooses may reflect their own personal tastes or decisions when they made the choice to study this branch of medicine. Any of these make a good starting point when the oncologist is entering the work force as well.

You may choose to work in a hospital environment, university, research lab, institute, or even a private clinic. There are many doors available to the future oncologist. The choice is in the hands of the future oncologist. This is a career field that is very stable in almost any economical climate. However, this isn’t the choice for everyone. There are going to be tough days, hard cases, and emotional moments in a career such as this one.

Who Would Like an Oncology Job?

We had just gotten my mother out of the hospital, where she had spent the last four days, because her potassium was so low, her heart was having a hard time pumping blood to her body. He was a very nice man who answered all my questions from the very beginning, and filled me on the history of what was really going on, not the half story my mom told me to keep me from worrying. He explained that she had anal cancer and that they had to give her six rounds of radical chemotherapy. He went on to say that she was doing fine and that they were gonna wait three weeks, let her gain her strength back and then do radiation. Surgery was out of the question as she had a previous bout with cervical cancer, and the surgery to remove that tumor had caused too much scar tissue. He explained everything so well. By the time we moved into our new home and got settled, she was done with her radiation and we could relax, and enjoy the summer. She came to stay with us for a month, soaking up the sun and playing with her granddaughter. But you could see the effects the treatment had on her body. Dr Raghaven told us that she would be swollen in certain areas, lose her hair, be cold all the time, and she was. Finally she went back to work. October came, the big day to tell if she was cured, and we all knew she was, when he told her that the cancer had spred to her lymph nodes. We were devasted. But she said she would lick it. So she did her chemo, as a out-patient this time, and everything was going good. She felt great, her hair was growing back, and then after New Year I got a call, the EMT's had been called and she refused to go with them. Told my aunt she was gonna punch her in the nose. She was disoriented. I called Dr. Raghaven and he told me it sounded like her kidney's had shut down. We got her to the hospital and that morning Dr. Raghaven told me there was nothing else we could do, even if they did dialysis, the tumor was too big. He stayed with us until we moved her to Hospice, he held my hand. Terrified, I asked him if my daughter and I needed to be tested for this cancer, and he told me no, it came from the Human Papillomavirus,(HPV). He sent flowers to her funeral. From the moment she became his patient to the day she left this world, he remained by her side giving her the support, and relief she needed, and that makes him one special Oncologist.

The Management & Treatment Of Prostate Cancer

Prostate cancer is the most common non-skin malignancy in men and is responsible for more deaths than by any other cancer, except for by lung cancer.

What is Prostate Cancer?

Abnormal cell growths are called tumors. Prostate cancer typically is comprised of multiple, very small, primary tumors within the prostate. The prostate is a gland in the male reproductive system that produces the majority of fluid that makes up the semen, the thick fluid that carries sperm. The walnut-sized gland is located beneath a man's bladder and surrounds the upper part of the urethra, the tube that carries urine from the bladder. The prostate is a common site for cancer to develop in men, particularly after the age of 50.

Possible signs of Prostate Disease

Prostate Cancer often has no symptoms until it becomes advanced, by which time the opportunity for cure can have been missed. It can be tested for by a blood test called PSA (prostate specific antigen), but owing to the test’s variable accuracy, the result must be interpreted with great care, preferably by a qualified Prostate Specialist. Other symptoms of prostate disease that should be investigated by a Prostate Specialist include :

Trouble urinating and Weak or interrupted flow of urine.

Frequent urination (especially at night).

Pain or burning during urination.

Blood in the urine or semen.

A pain in the back, hips, or pelvis that doesn't go away.

Painful ejaculation.

What are some of the treatment options for prostate cancer?

The treatment options for prostate cancer depend in part on whether the tumor has spread. For tumors that are still inside the prostate, radiation therapy (using x-rays that kill the cancer cells) or surgery called radical prostatectomy, performed in various reputable London Prostate cancer treatment centers and urology clinics in London, are common treatment options.

What is Prostate Drainage?

Prostate drainage is the common term for prostate detoxification. The prostate has an affinity for holding fatty deposits that accumulate from the consumption of fatty foods. The accumulation, over years and even decades of a fat-rich diet, leads to blockages of the acini in the prostate. These blockages can trap and hold bacteria in the prostate.

Prostate Cancer Prevention Strategies

The ultimate goal of prostate cancer prevention strategies is to prevent men from developing the prostate disease. London has many physicians who specialise in the management of prostate cancer. In spite of significant progress in research over the past 16 years, this goal has not yet been achieved. Studies do suggest however that dietary and pharmacological measures may reduce some of the risks associated with prostate cancer. Both genetic and environmental risk factors for prostate cancer have also been identified, but the evidence is not yet strong enough to be helpful to predict developing prostate cancer. Screening for prostate cancer initially involves a blood test for PSA, and depending on the result further tests may be required. Screening is probably of greatest benefit to men between 50 and 70 years of age, or from 40 years for men who are Afro-Caribean or have a family history. However, it is important to first understand the particular benefits and harm that may arise from testing and very early treatment of prostate cancer. Screening can be done through a Prostate Specialist London.

Melanoma Skin Cancer: Find Melanoma Where The Sun Don't Shine

Melanoma skin cancer does not just form where you get the most sun. Many people think that they only need to check the areas of their skin that are regularly exposed to the sun.

While this is good practice, don't ignore the rest of your body. My brother found his melanoma growth on his upper thigh, and he has never worn shorts in his life. He always kept check on his arms, legs, face etc, but when a cut that wouldn't heal showed up on his inner thigh, he didn't think it could possibly be melanoma skin cancer, because he had never got any sun there.

So, when you are giving your body the "once over" check... don't ignore the skin that is always covered, and check places like your underarms, thighs, etc, and get someone to check the backs of your legs and your back and neck, and scalp.

We all have moles, or birth marks, or scars, that make us unique, it doesn't mean it is cancer, what you are looking for is changes. Most moles stay the same shape, but if they start getting larger, form weird edges, or bleed, itch or scab up, then it doesn't hurt to get it checked out. This goes for any cut that does not heal, or forms a scab that keeps falling off, which is what my brother had. He did not have one mole on his body.

Melanoma skin cancer, has a very high rate of cure if caught early. You need to get familiar with your body, so that you can let your doctor know. It is up to you to find these changes, so don't forget to look past your arms and back and face..

How to Get Cancer Life Insurance

Getting life insurance if you have cancer is undeniably challenging but it is not impossible. Your probability of getting coverage depends, to a large extent, on the type, grade, and stage of the disease. The treatment plan also plays a big role because it determines the curability of the cancer. For example, certain types of illnesses like skin cancer is considered as a very low-risk condition by most cancer life insurance companies. In fact, they consider it so inconsequential that skin cancer history might not even have an effect on premiums.

Meanwhile, patients with treatable types of prostate and breast cancer might still fall under the “standard” category. However, the best scenario for high-risk diseases such as colon cancer and leukemia is that it will fall into the “high substandard” category. Some patients will also be declined depending on the life insurance company. Individuals whose cancer has metastasized have a very slim chance of getting coverage.

Majority of cancer life insurance companies do not want to provide a policy for people still undergoing treatment. And depending on the type of condition involved, life insurers might also ask for a “temporary flat” or a surcharge to your plan. These premiums might be expensive but it will also disappear over time, usually between two to five years.

Should You Get a Cancer Life Insurance Broker?

A good life insurance agent can help you find a reputable insurance institution that can offer coverage. In many instances though, cancer patients should look into a broker whose specialty include finding cancer life insurance policies. These brokers are familiar with the various policy requirements of different companies.

Most of them will already know the specific concerns of underwriters and they can provide an immediate answer to that. In addition, cancer life insurance brokers who have been in the business for some time already have a good network. These relationships can benefit you in your search for a cancer life insurance policy.

The end result is, your application is given to the companies who will view your medical history most favourably. You’re able get the best price quotes and the lowest premiums. However, while this might sound like good news for many cancer survivors, it is also crucial to exercise precaution. Make sure that the broker you get has a license and then check the financial stability of the company before you buy the policy.

Tips to Get Cancer Life Insurance Coverage

It is important to get all appropriate medical files before you apply for the policy. Everything from the treatment record to the first pathology result should be compiled. This will help the underwriter get a complete picture of your health and cancer history. Likewise, it will significantly reduce delays in the process because the underwriter will ask for these records from you anyway.

It is also a good idea to get a checkup prior to your cancer life insurance application. If you haven’t been back for a year, then the insurer is not likely to give you a policy without seeing the state of your health at the time you apply.

A guide to best anxiety drugs!

Many treatments for anxiety drugs are available in the market but not all treatments are effective and no one method can fit all. Therefore to know which treatment is good for your health, you should consult your doctor. He will tell you the best anxiety drug after examining your condition thoroughly. Let’s discuss some of the best anxiety drug which can cure anxiety successfully.

• Benzodiazepines- These drugs are effective in treating panic attacks and phobia behavior. Some of the drugs belonging to this class include alprazolam (Xanax), lorazepam (Ativan), and lonazepam (Klonopin). These are also known as fast acting anxiety medications. However according to the experiences of different people, the withdrawal symptoms are bound to attack once you stop using the medication. These are also accompanied with other side effects like confusion and memory problems in elders.

• Anti depressants- Among anti depressants, Tricyclic antidepressant, imipramine (Tofranil) is considered to be the best treatment for anxiety. Some of the other cyclic drugs include Anafranil (clomipramine), Norpramin (desipramine) and Pamelor (nortryptyline). The disadvantage of Tricyclic drugs is that they sometimes produce cardiac effects like heart palpitations and dizziness accompanied with sedation and weight gain. This class of drugs is slower than benzodiazepines and is often prescribed with benzodiazepines only during initial stages of anxiety disorder.

The second Tricyclic drug that is effective in treating anxiety is MAOI. They are meant to be highly effective in treating social phobia and panic disorder. But these also pose ill effects onto your health. Doctors advised people taking MOAI to take restricted diet because they contain tyramine which is generally present in certain foods. You can also employ SSRI drugs which includes Prozac (fluoxetine), and Zoloft (sertraline) and Paxil (paroxetine)

• Azapirones- The drug under azipirones is buspirone which is sold under the brand name of BuSpar. This drug can be used to treat different types of anxiety disorders. Buspirones are also slower in acting than benzodiazepines. So if you want your anxiety to get removed quickly then going for benzodiazepines is the best option.

These are some of the best anxiety drugs which can prove helpful in treating your anxiety disorder. But before taking any drug, consult your doctor and know about the side effects and positive effects of each method so that you can employ one suiting your body and circumstances in life. Further the dosage of each drug should be carefully known from the doctor to avoid any adverse effects.

Sun Protection for Everyone

The great outdoors can be a huge source of fun. But watch out – overexposure to the elements, especially sunlight, can make you susceptible to diseases like skin cancer.

Sunlight has a spectrum of good and bad effects. The good ones include giving of warmth, photosynthesis, killing of micro-organisms, vision, vitamin D synthesis and some therapeutic effects. Its bad effects include sunburn, photosensitivity, photo allergy, cataracts, skin aging, and skin cancer.

Although people with dark skin and are generally not vulnerable to the harmful effects of the sun, it doesn’t mean they won’t develop skin cancer later. A harmless-looking mole may turn out to be a cancerous mole.

Check for its shape and asymmetry, border irregularity, color pigmentations, a diameter of more than six millimeters, itchiness and bleeding in advanced cases. Aside from overexposure to sunlight, other factors in the development of skin cancer include a family history of the disease, exposure to chemicals, coal, arsenic, and radiation.

At risk for skin cancer are election campaigners, cadets, military and police personnel, athletes, drivers, farmers, and schoolchildren. The effects of ultraviolet light (UV) from the sun are cumulative. Since the sun’s rays seem to be the main culprit, prevention is a matter of guarding the skin against these harmful rays.

To prevent skin cancer, here are some practical tips to follow:

Avoid unnecessary sun exposure to harmful ultraviolet light especially between 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Block sunlight by wearing protective clothing, UV opaque sunglasses, and wide-brimmed hats.

Cover your skin with chemical and physical sunscreens. Don’t rely on baby oil and regular lotions.

Don’t stay too long under the sun.

Enjoy yourself but take care.

To complement your sun protection regimen, use Lumnaderm, a whitening cream that eliminates freckles, unsightly age spots, sun spots, blemishes and hyperpigmentation. When used as directed, Lumnaderm will balance uneven skin tones and illuminate your skin. For more information, visit http://www.lumnaderm.com.

Skin Cancer Myths Debunked

The weather may be sunny but the statistics are not. Every year, over one million new skin cancer cases are diagnosed in the United States alone. The most serious form, melanoma, will be seen in more than a 100,000 people this year and kill over 8,000, according to the American Melanoma Foundation.

Experts say the disease is increasing yearly mainly because of prolonged exposure to the sun’s ultraviolet (UV) rays and the thinning of the ozone layer. The tragedy of it all is that skin cancer is preventable.

To avoid this problem, it pays to be sun wise. The first step in fighting skin cancer is to learn about the disease so you can protect yourself from the sun’s deadly rays. To make this easy for you, here are some skin cancer myths and facts you should be aware of:

Skin cancer is inherited. In some cases, it is but a healthy family history doesn’t mean you won’t get the disease later. It all depends how much time you spend under the sun. Excessive sun exposure causes precancerous changes in the skin and is a major factor in the development of malignant melanoma. High-risk groups include farmers, laborers, sailors, campers, athletes, those undergoing military training, beach lovers, and picnickers.

Only sunbathers should worry about skin cancer. False. No matter where you are or what you do, you can get skin cancer with constant sun exposure, especially if you go out between 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. when the sun’s rays are strongest. In fact, you may get more UV exposure from going to the office and other daily routines than spending a weekend at the beach.

A good tan is a sign of health. False. A golden brown tan once meant that a person had plenty of leisure time, exercise and fresh air. But that’s hardly the case. Tanning is the skin’s response to sun damage. When the sun’s rays penetrate the skin, pigment-producing cells called melanocytes produce melanin to protect the skin and block UV light. However, this defense mechanism isn’t enough to protect the skin from burning. Over time, repeated tanning causes premature aging and increases your risk of skin cancer.

Only fair-skinned individuals will get skin cancer. False. While a fair complexion puts you at risk for skin cancer because it burns easily, those with dark or brown skin will also develop the disease with prolonged sun exposure.

You can’t get sunburned on a cloudy day. False. Up to 80 percent of the sun’s rays can penetrate clouds, mist and fog. Fresh snow reflects back 85 percent while white sand can intensify it by 18 percent which is bad news for beach lovers. Staying in the water is not safe either since five percent of the sun’s rays are reflected back on you and sunlight can penetrate up to three feet under water! If you think all that will end by the time you drive home, think again. A concrete sidewalk reflects back 12 percent of the sun’s rays while an asphalt road reflects about 8 percent.

Vegetable or mineral oils will protect you from sunburn. False. Forget what your mom told you. These folk remedies don’t work. Baby oil and other home remedies may feel good but they won’t stop the sun’s UV rays from burning you. For complete sun protection, use a good sunscreen with a high sun protection factor (SPF) value.

How to Prevent Skin Cancer

Summer is a time for swimming, outings, picnics, and fun. But it’s also the best time to get a bad sunburn or worse, skin cancer if you’re not careful.

Adequate sunlight helps your body make vitamin D but too much can kill you. Aside from premature aging, wrinkles and cataracts, long-term exposure to the sun’s ultraviolet (UV) rays causes skin cells to grow abnormally and develop into a tumor that can be cancerous.

In the United States alone, more than one million new skin cancer cases are diagnosed yearly and one in five Americans will develop some form of skin cancer during their lifetime, according to the American Melanoma Foundation. Melanoma is the second most common cancer in American women aged 20 to 29 and it kills one person every hour.

At risk are those who spend too much time under the sun like laborers, farmers, sailors as well as those undergoing military training, scouts, campers, athletes, sunbathers and swimmers.

Others who need adequate sun protection are the elderly who have thin skin and are more vulnerable to the sun’s deadly rays, babies with delicate skin that burns easily, those taking drugs like diuretics, tranquilizers and antibiotics, and those applying astringents.

Fair-skinned individuals are more likely to develop malignant melanoma but that’s no reason for those with brown skin to rejoice. While people with darker skin have more melanin pigment which protects them from burning, experts said melanin-rich complexions are not immune from the sun’s harmful rays. The longer you stay under the sun, the greater your risk of getting skin cancer regardless of the color of your skin.

To protect yourself, here are some practical tips:

Be like a vampire. No, don’t sleep in a coffin but avoid going out between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. when the sun is strongest.

Wear sunglasses, a wide-brimmed hat, preferably one made of canvass, and don’t forget your umbrella. Long-sleeves and long pants are fine provided they’re made of a tightly woven material which blocks sunlight.

Use a good sunscreen to effectively block out the sun’s rays and help you enjoy the great outdoors. If you have sun-sensitive skin or stay under the sun all day, a high SPF (sun protection factor) value will protect you from the sun’s harmful rays.

For best results, apply the product evenly on all exposed skin 15 to 20 minutes before going outside. Have someone rub it on your back and don’t forget sensitive areas like the nose, ears, shoulders, and tops of feet. Reapply every 2 hours or more often after exercising or swimming.

Colon cleansing is a process which everyone should do once or twice a year. Most people are unaware of the build up of toxins residing in your colon. Many symptoms can be attributed to these toxins such as: constipation, acne, candida and sluggishness. Our environment can also lead to a polluted colon.

Cleansing will aid in ridding our bodies of toxins created by an unhealthy diet, constant use of antibiotics, and environmental pollution and chemicals. When we cleanse the colon, we are also cleansing our small intestines, large intestines and stomach.

So how is one to know which products to turn to for a good sound colon cleanse? There are a number of products now available through online ordering or at your local health food store.

Some popular colon cleansing products are Colonix, OxyPowder, and Dual Action Cleanse. Most cleanses are a three to eight week process and typically do not require any dietary changes. Although as you are removing toxins and rot from your gut, it is wise to try to eliminate over processed foods and sugars from your regular diet as these are always unhealthy choices for the body to have to deal with.

Before buying a colon cleansing product, it is a good idea to talk to a healthcare practitioner to make sure you are not going to take a product which has ingredients that might have a negative interaction with other medications you are taking. Cancer Prevention: 14 Things You Can Do To Prevent Cancer.

The cost of cancer is very heavy for society, any action to eliminate the causes of the occurrence of a type of cancer is a benefit, not only in lives but also economic and social development. Some cancers could disappear over 90% if we could adopt a new lifestyle and eliminating the causes of these cancers.

Cancer prevention is possible. Almost two cancer could be prevented by eating better. Moreover, early detection of tumors can often eliminate tumors before they become malignant (cervical, colon, prostate and in particular).

There are currently three cancer whose origin is certain hereditary: cancer of the retina, kidney cancer in children and bone marrow cancer of the thyroid.

Some illnesses should lead a policy of vigilance; this is the case for polyps (benign tumors) of the colon.

So Let's take a look at what you can do to prevent cancer.

1 - Supplies of food and eating habits: Choose a diet mainly based on plant products rich in fruits and vegetables, legumes and other sources of complex carbohydrates and little changed.

2 - Maintenance of body weight: Avoid inadequate and overweight and limit weight gain to less than 5 kg in adulthood.

3 - Maintain physical activity: If your daily activity is low or moderate plan 1h each day of brisk walking (or similar exercise), and during the week at least 1 hour more intense exercises.

4 - Fruits and vegetables: Eat 400 to 800 grams per day of fruits and vegetables throughout the year.

5 - Other food-based plant products. : Eat 600 to 800 grams per day of a variety of cereals, legumes, root vegetables, tubercules, processed preferably little. Limit intake of sugar and sugar products.

6 - Meat: Limit your daily consumption of meat including meats. It is preferable to vary inputs focusing on fresh meat, fish and poultry.

7 - Total Oils and Fats: Limit consumption of fat, particularly those from pork and beef. Choose moderate amounts of appropriate vegetable oils.

8 - Salt and curing: Limit consumption of salted foods and use salt and table salt. Use herbs and spices to season foods.

9 - Storage: Do not eat food that, following a poor conservation (humidity, heat) could be contaminated with mold.

10 - Conservation: Use the refrigeration and other appropriate methods so that perishable foods purchased, then kept at home, remain fit for consumption.

11 - additives and residues: The levels of additives and residues are regulated so that their presence in food is not harmful. However, unregulated use or inadequate (situation in developing countries) may be hazardous to health.

12 - Preparation: Do not eat too much grilled food or the cooking juices. Do occasionally eat meat and fish grilled over a flame, salted or smoked.

13 - Dietary Supplements: For those who follow the recommendations outlined above, dietary supplements are probably not necessary to reduce the risk of cancer.

14- Tobacco: Do not smoke. If you smoke, stop as soon as possible. It's hard to stop, but it's really very dangerous to smoke! Indeed, all the food tips less than quit smoking. smoking (cigarettes in particular) is the cause of 95% of lung cancer - usually called lung-cancer (if not more, because passive smoking has not yet been sufficiently studied).

6 Things You Can Do to Prevent Breast Cancer

With 49 000 new cases and 11 000 deaths per year, breast cancer has experienced a doubling of cases during the past 25 years. And yet, we can prevent this cancer by some simple habits. The risk of breast cancer may be lowered, so play your part!

Just like it is for lung cancer, the causes of breat cancer are easily identified, Only recently a number of these factors have been formally recognized by the light of specific studies. So lets take a look at what you can to to prevent breast vancer and live a healthy life.

Eat less and better.

Again, food is central to the prevention of cardiovascular and neurodegenerative diseases, but also breast cancer, Food is also responsible in the occurrence of a second cancer. Regardless of overweight, trans fats (pastries, pizza, etc.) are increasing by more than double the risk of breast cancer. If it adds an overweight (especially in case of breakdown "android" fat, in short a big belly), the fatty tissue acts like a gland secretory estrogen promoters of cancer, especially after menopause.

Keep Moving!

Thirty minutes of real physical activity (not just vacuuming and ironing!)
would reduce the risk of breast cancer by 30 to 40%. Keeping your body in shape is one of the best weapon against all form of cancers. It may be difficult at first to get out and doing some physical activities but the rewards are fantastic. A simple bicycle ride every day is enough to stay in shape. So let's move!

Drink less than one glass of alcohol per day.

Once the equivalent of 10 grams (one glass), the rate of circulating hormones (estrogen always) grows, as does the risk of tumor growth, especially breast. The risk increase by 9% every 10 grams of alcohol ingested. Alcool is one of the worst enemy for pregnant women.

Make your first baby around 25 years old.

This factor is the "heavy" in terms of risk ... At least 20% of cancers would be redundant due to the increasingly late age of the first full-term pregnancy, which is nearly 30 years today.

Nurse your baby ideally for 6 months.

The risk decreases with the number of children and especially if they were breastfed: endogène secretion of estrogen are dropping considerably during pregnancy and weaning.

Protect yourself against xenoestrogens.

A xenophobic estrogen is a chemical compound, which is recognized by a living organism as an estrogen.

You must especially avoid periods where your body is changing and more vulnerable to hormonal changes, ie when you are pregnant of a baby girl (for him to avoid breast cancer later.

Breast cancer accounts for one third of new cancers in women. If it is detected early, it is better supported. Women with breast cancer benefit from treatment tailored to their pathology. Four technologies are mainly used. In order of importance: surgery, radiotherapy, chemotherapy and hormone therapy. Since the year 2000 medical advance has been made on all fronts in the fight against breast cancer. Early detection and treatment are essential to defeat the disease.

Good Luck!

Understanding Colon Cancer: Symptoms, Causes and Early Detection

The large intestine, also called colon, is located in the abdominal cavity where it takes the form of an inverted U. It follows the small intestine into the pit right iliac then back along the abdomen, it is experiencing in its upper part, then downhill into the left iliac fossa where it forms a loop S (sigmoid colon ).

It then continues with the rectum and then, 15 cm lower, with the anal canal and ending with the anus. Malignant tumors of intestin develop in 70 percent of cases in the rectum and sigmoid, from the mucosa (inner layer) or more often a polyp (benign tumor that has cancérisée).

Symptoms

We have to wait very long, often several months to see the first symptoms usually occurring by the presence of blood or mucus in black, and disorders of transit for more than three weeks, mainly characterized by alternating diarrhea and constipation. Without treatment, cancer of the colon can cause intestinal obstruction, more rarely perforation of the bowel wall. Later, chronic bleeding that occurs in the tumor causes anemia and unintended weight loss.

Causes

If we do not yet know the exact causes of colon cancer, it is believed that some severe inflammatory diseases of the bowel as well as foods rich in fat and low in fiber promote its appearance.

We also believe that five per cent of cancers rectocoliques certainly have a family, ie they are favored by inherited genes. We know for example that children, brothers and sisters of people who had colon cancer may also develop this disease. This risk is particularly high in families with a "familial polyposis."

The disorder is characterized by the presence in many colon polyps, benign tumors that almost always turn into cancer if not removed in time. The progress of genetic engineering we will soon find the gene responsible for the disease among children in these families, regularly monitor those who own and operate them if necessary, while avoiding investigations and unnecessary fears to those who do the not.

Prevention and Early Detection

If there is no really effective way to prevent colon cancer, it is strongly recommended eating foods rich in fiber and drink plenty of fluids. The systematic excision of polyps discovered during an endoscopy is in fact the main measure to prevent colon cancer.

It is also impossible to practice early detection, for example by using a self-examination. The only way to detect colon cancer is to consult a doctor without delay from onset of symptoms mentioned above, namely the presence of blood in the stool and disorders transit. It is therefore necessary to regularly observe the appearance of the stool. The presence of blood should never be attributed to hemorrhoids, at least among those who have more than forty years before fully to investigate the intestine by endoscopy (direct examination with a flexible instrument that we introduced by the rectum).

As for reviews that are to detect the invisible presence of blood in the stool in search of a chronic hemorrhage, they may be useful but are not sufficient because they do almost never detect tumors early, when it is still curable. Moreover, the presence of blood in the stool is not always a sign of colon cancer.

The only way to make a diagnosis with certainty is that allows endoscopy to examine directly, or the lower part of the large intestine (rectosigmoïdoscopie) where develop almost all the tumors of the intestine or the entire large intestine ( colonoscopy).

Causes Of Bone Cancer

The diseases that are fatal have to be avoided by us, and in order to avoid them we have to be aware of the causes of it, so that we can prevent them from occurring to us. Bone cancer is one such disease which apart from quite dangerous, due to the fact that the intensified disease condition can completely impair the bones in the body, has the causes still in the darkness. We are not aware of the exact causes of the disease and there is much research going on to find out the cut out reasons and causes for the primary type of bone cancer.

But the good thing is that we still have the knowledge of risk factors that are associated with bone cancer. If we avoid these factors which make us more prone to the bone cancer, we can easily get ourselves free of the bone cancer disease. The DNA or the genes that characterize every aspect our body, provide the verdict as to how the body should behave. If we have the mutant or some what defective genes that we inherited from our parents, then we have an increased chance of us acquiring the bone cancer. The genes are found to have control over the rate of cell division, which makes it a potential risk occurring place. Most patients with bone cancers are also found to have the mutated form in DNA. But this does not mean that a hereditary risk of the disease. Most often the mutated DNA from one generation is corrected in the next generation by itself.

Some people, who have had long course in the radiotherapy or high dosages in the same, are seen to be more susceptible to bone cancer. The risk is not yet clearly established and it is just seen as a minor one. Most of the people having radiotherapy do not have any type of effects regarding the bone cancer. Still, it remains a risk one needs to be wary of.

The persons who have already had a begin cancer, a minimal stage or level of development of cancerous cells, are more prone to bone cancers. This is because of the fact that there is chance that the previous cancerous cells were not completely destroyed and there may be a part of it triggering for further development of cancerous cells. There are also suggestions that heavy injuries and shocks to certain parts of the body must be treated carefully or the parts may develop cancerous cells. Though this is not proven, there is surely a view considering that as a potential causer.

Thus it is clear that bone cancer is one disease which has no clearly known causes and it is for us to try to avoid the risk factors so that we can try our best to keep the bone cancer at bay. The bone cancer can be completely avoided if we have a clear understanding of the risk factors. Causes of bone cancer are not that helpful till now, because we do not know them still!

Bone Cancer: Causes, Symptoms, Diagnosis, Treatment and Prognosis

Bone cancer is rare and accounts for less than 1% of all new tumors. Not all bone tumors are fatal in fact benign (non cancerous) abnormalities are more common than malignant ones. Most bone cancers are secondary and have been spread from another site. Primary bone cancer which starts in the bone is quite rare constituting less than one per cent of all malignant tumors. They are more common in males, especially in children and adolescents. The most common type of primary bone cancer is osteosarcoma. This type of carcinoma usually affects young adults. It can affect any bone, but the arms, legs and pelvis are more commonly affected. Other less common forms of primary bone cancer include Ewing sarcoma, malignant fibrous histiocytoma and chondrosarcoma.

Primary Bone Cancer
The causes of primary bone tumours are not known; however, adults who have Pagets disease (a bone disease) may have an increased risk.

Secondary bone cancer
Secondary bone cancer is the most common bone cancer. It is a carcinoma that starts somewhere else in the body and spreads (metastasises) to the bone. The most common cancers that spread to the bone originate in the breast, prostate, lung, kidney and thyroid.

Reticulum cell sarcoma of the bone
A cancerous tumor of the bone marrow presenting in more males than females.

Leukaemia
Cancer of the blood, which starts in the bone marrow

Symptoms of bore cancer
Symptoms tend to develop slowly and depend on the type, location, and size of the tumor. The signs and symptoms of bone cancer include: painful bones and joints, swelling of bones and joints, problems with movement, susceptibility to fractures. Less common symptoms include: unexplained weight loss, tiredness, fever and sweating.

Remember bone cancer is very rare so if you have any of these symptoms it is likely to be caused by another condition. Always see your doctor if you have for a diagnosis.

Causes
Although bone cancer does not have a clearly defined cause, researchers have identified several factors that increase the likelihood of developing these tumors. A small number of bone cancers are due to heredity.

Diagnosis
Bone cancer can present itself in any of the bones of the body, but it is diagnosed most often in the long bones of the arms and legs.

Diagnosing bone cancer involves a number of tests, including: X-rays and bone scans to show the exact location and size of the cancer (these are always done prior to biopsy), bone biopsy where a small sample of the cancer is removed from the bone and examined in the laboratory for the presence of malignant cells, Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scan similar to a CT scan but uses magnetism instead of x-rays to build three-dimensional pictures of your body.

Treatment
The treatment and prognosis of bone cancer depend upon multiple factors including the type and extent of the cancer, the patient's age and overall health status. Tumors may be treated with surgery, radiation therapy, chemotherapy, or a combination of these.

Primary bone cancers:
The tumor, surrounding bone tissue and nearby lymph nodes are surgically removed. In severe cases, the affected limb may need to be amputated, but this is rare. Treatment may also include radiotherapy (x-rays to target and kill the cancer cells) and chemotherapy (anti-cancer drugs). These may be given before surgery, to shrink the cancer and/or afterwards to destroy any remaining cancer cells.

Secondary bone cancer:
Treatment depends on the treatment for the original tumor, but usually includes chemotherapy, radiotherapy or hormone therapy. Surgery may be needed to strengthen the affected bone.

Prognosis
Overall, the chance of recovery (prognosis) for bone cancers has improved significantly since the development of modern chemotherapy. The chance of recovery will depend on a variety of influences; if the cancer has spread, the type of bone cancer, the size of the tumour, location, the person's general health and other individual factors.

If the tumor is very small and localized, the five-year survival rate is close to 90 percent. If the cancer has begun to spread, however, survival becomes more difficult. The five-year survival rate is only about 60 percent, and the prognosis is poor once the cancer spreads.

Bone cancer in cats and dogs
Bone carcinoma in dogs and cats can be a challenging disorder. Osteosarcoma is by far the most common bone tumour if dogs, usually striking the leg bones of larger breeds. Chemotherapy significantly prolongs the survival of animals with osteosarcoma when used in conjunction with surgery. For dogs Cisplatin alone or in combination with doxorubicin markedly improves survival time to a median of 8-10 months with the percentage of dogs alive after11 months at 50%.

Feline Osteosarcoma unlike its canine counterpart it has a much lower rate of metastasis and longer term survival can be expected with complete excision. Median survival for cats with osteosarcoma is approximately 2 years with many cats outreaching that.

How Many People Die of Cancer Each Year

Did you know that today, ever 4 Americans, there is one diagnosed with cancer? In 2008, there are about 565,650 Americans expected to die of cancer. Every day, 1500 people lives are taken by cancer. It is accounted for 1 of every 4 deaths. Cancer is the second most common cause of death in the US, exceeded only by heart diseases, and if current trends continue and we don't do anything about it, it is expected to be the leading cause of death by the year 2010.

People are waking up to this scary fact. More are becoming aware of what leads to cancer and are taking steps to prevent it from developing by making adjustment to their lifestyle. The other good news is that early detection, diagnosis and treatment have improved the odds dramatically. In 1995, over 50% of cancer patients survived five years or more after diagnosis and treatment. The American Cancer Society estimates that an additional 25-30% of all cancer deaths could be prevented with earlier diagnosis and treatment.

Cancer is identified by uncontrolled cell division and cell death caused by cumulative damage to important regulatory genes. Generally, multiple genes must be damaged for a cancer to grow and to develop the capacity to spread, also known as metastasis. Cancers that seem to run in families may be hereditary or may signify similar family environmental exposure to substances that cause cell damage such as polluted air, water, soil and to radiation. Cancer can occur in many areas of the body and behaves differently depending on its types and origin. Cancer is caused by both external factors (tobacco, chemicals, radiation and infectious organisms) and internal factors (inherited mutations, hormones, immune conditions, and mutations that occurs from metabolism). It often takes ten or more years from exposure to external factors and a detectable cancer.

Even chlorinated municipal water can cause cancer. Chlorine treated water contains chemical compounds called trihalomethanes, which are carcinogens (cancer causing agents) resulting from the combination of chlorine and organic compounds in water. These chemicals do not degrade very well and are generally stored in the fatty tissues of the body (the breasts, other fatty areas, mothers' milk, blood and semen), they can cause mutations by altering DNA, suppress immune system function and interfere with the natural controls of cell growth. Several studies also link chlorine and chlorinated by-products to a greater incidence of bladder, breast and bowel cancer as well as malignant melanoma. One study even links the use of chlorinated tap water to congenital cardiac anomalies.

If your family history shows that certain diseases have occurred repeatedly in the past, you must be diligent about getting regular screening examinations for these diseases. Check with your doctor for more information about evaluations or cancer screenings.

The best advice to lower cancer risk: Change bad habits and live healthfully. Quit smoking, exercise regularly, learn to manage stress, eat foods that help build your body's defenses against cancer. Remove chlorine or chloramine and other contaminants from water before drinking or cooking. Take vitamin and mineral supplements. And most importantly, see your physician for regular testing and health screenings.
